Description

The Intel® Enpirion® EM2030 device is a fully integrated high-efficiency 30 A DC-DC step-down PowerSoC with digital control that delivers an outstanding combination of power density and conversion efficiency. It integrates power switches, inductor, gate drive, controller, and compensation in a small 11 x 17 mm QFN package and only a 360 mm2 total solution size.

The proprietary digital power conversion loop of the controller is designed to meet the precise voltage and fast transient requirements of high-performance FPGA, ASIC, digital signal processor (DSP), and processor core rails. The two-state control loop reduces required bulk capacitor requirements, which improves system reliability while reducing cost and overall solution size. The EM2030 device has pin-selectable compensation configuration to optimize performance for any decoupling capacitor configuration.

With full integration of all DC-DC components into the package, the EM2030 device is designed, characterized, and qualified as a complete power system, resulting in a low-risk solution with low failure in time (FIT) rates, especially compared to discrete power supply solutions. Excellent thermal performance and custom-designed magnetics enhances efficiency and enables the EM2030 device to deliver 30 A continuous operating current across the full industrial operating temperature range with no derating required.
