Intel’s site in Austin, Texas, is home to a research and development team focused on the design of System on a Chip (SoC) and microprocessor components. Intel Texas is the birthplace of the Intel® Atom™ processors and SoCs, an ultra-low-power device that is bringing Intel® architecture to an expanding variety of smartphones, tablets, netbook, embedded applications, and communications devices.

Intel Security in Plano, Texas focuses on combining the security expertise of McAfee with the innovation, performance, and trust of Intel. The site focuses on Security that’s built-in by design that protects valuable intellectual property, data, devices and identities so people can feel secure in a digital world.

Intel has more than 2,300 employees in Austin and Plano.

Intel in the Community

Intel is committed to improving K-12 science and math education, enabling teachers to use technology effectively in their classrooms, broadening access to technology, and encouraging women and minorities to enter technical careers. The company supports state and local organizations and programs aimed at improving math, science, engineering, and technology curriculum, including the UT Women in Engineering program (UT WEP), Austin Partners in Education (APIE), the Austin Independent School District (AISD), Austin Energy Regional Science Festival and Austin Mini-Maker Faire.

In 2015, more than 40 percent of Intel’s Texas employees volunteered for their communities, resulting in thousands of dollars in Intel Foundation grants to local schools and nonprofit organizations through the Intel Involved Matching Grant Program.
